Where is Israel on your list?

Write a list of the 5 most important mitzvot in Judaism. Does living in Israel make the list? If yes, explain why. If not, how far down on the list should it be and why?
You do not have to use the mitzvot below, but here are some ideas and options you may use:

  1. Kibbu Av Va’em/Honoring your parents
  2. Kashrut/Kosher
  3. Pesach
  4. Tzniut/Tzizit/Kippah
  5. Shabbat
  6. Tefillah
  7. Tzedakah
  8. Learning Torah
  9. Circumcision/Brit Milah
  10. Marrying Jewish
  11. Living in Israel
  12. Belief in Gd
  13. Gemillut Chassadim/Chessed
  14. Visiting the Sick
  15. Yom Kippur

I Haven't had the opportunity to go to the beloved chosen land Isreal, yet i still have a connection to it. I feel that being a good person inside and doing good is the most important thing in life. "derech ertz kadma li torah" being respectful is just as important as learning torah. Spreading our nation and keeping the religion in the family is also very important. Believing in god and keeping torah laws can be kept anywhere but is more important to be kept than to live in Isreal. Living in Isreal would be amazing but not ideal. I have all my family and Friends in America and so it would be to hard. I love Isreal and B"H we will all be able to live in Isreal when Mashiach comes and the time is right!

--> I personally would not put living in Israel on my top 5 list of most important mitzvot for the following reason: While moving to Israel is a huge mitzvah, I find it quite idealistic because it requires you to move across the country and restart your whole life. I know that doing something like that would cause me a whole deal of stress and for months I would not be able to focus on anything but making that big move. All in all, I would find it more fulfilling to accomplish and focus on many smaller mitzvot rather than accomplish one big mitzvah and be to stressed to focus on anything else.

I would not put living in Israel on my list because I feel that moving there is a big change that requires your full attention for a long time. While I feel moving to Israel is a big mitzvah, I would rather do many other mitzvot (like the ones on my list) then move. If I were to move it would take all of my attention to make a "game plan" for the move and I would be so focused on that and maybe not do as many matzot. I feel that learning torah and marrying Jewish is more important so one can continue the Jewish nation and teach them the torah you have learnt. I also think Shabbat is extremely important because its one day that all Jews come together. Chessed is important because we should always be kind to others no matter what.

  4. 1.tzedakah
    2.Believing in god
    3.yom kippur
    4.Moving to israel
    5.shabbat

I chose this order for the most important mitzvot because this is what i believe. The first four i believe that even not the most observant people do. For example even though it is difficult to move to israel there are zoinistic non-observant jews that move to israel.

Although I personally believe in making Aliyah, moving to Israel is not the foundation of Judaism. Following Judaism means believing in Hashem and doing good, however different sects differ in their beliefs in which is the best way in doing so. Just because one does not live in Israel, it does not determine how they practice their faith in G-d. The Jewish nation is meant to be the light to other nations and what better way to do so then live spread out in the world.

I think living in Israel is one of the last on the list because learning Torah, tzniut, marrying jewish, visiting the sick and all of these other mitzvots are more important than living in Israel. Living in Israel is a mitzvah, but we can still do all of the other mitzvots in America.

The dream of living in Israel ties me to the community of the Jews. This common dream brings the jewish people together.

I think that Tzniut is last because i find that its more important to focus on being a moral people then how we look, i think we need to change our internal problems before our external
